You’re the “G” in ESG: A Director’s Role in World Change

When we hear the term ESG, almost everyone thinks “Environment” and that the S stands for “Social” impact. But what does the G in ESG mean?  What does good governance look like in the ESG era?  How do we know what applies to whom? It is not a one-size-fits-all standard. It can be very different for a small company, a not-for-profit or even an organization that does not operate in a regulated industry.  Does your governance stance matter?

To date, observers have had most of their focus on the “E” and “S” as part of sustainable wealth creation, but the “G” has not changed much.  The “G” component is required to make real headway on “E” and “S”.

The “G” is about understanding why, how, and what the benefits are to you, your board, and your organization.  It is a precondition for the strategy and oversight of an organization’s operations to achieve long-term and sustainable value and success.

Your distinguished panel will explore issues and challenges organizations face in improving governance in these ever-changing and demanding times.

Social Celebration to Follow:   Please join us for a reception celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Maritime Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors.  Following this educational session, we will gather with friends and colleagues to celebrate this milestone, to thank our four founding members, and to recognize those who have recently completed terms of service with our great chapter.  Local libations and sensational snacks will be served.
