There continues to be rapid change in workforce composition and desires (culture) driven by demographic, cultural, technological advancements, mobility of human capital and global forces. Boards need to be adaptive to these changes and provide oversight of management’s strategies associated with adaption and support the various elements of change.


Dr. Daina Mazutis is a tenured Associate Professor of Strategy at the University of Ottawa where she also holds the Endowed Professorship in Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability (ERS). Daina’s research on leadership, strategy and sustainability has been published in several edited books as well as peer-reviewed journals and has been honoured with numerous prestigious awards. She has extensive executive education experience, is a sought-after speaker and has presented broadly at conferences internationally. Prior to joining the University of Ottawa, Daina was a Professor of Strategy, Leadership and Ethics at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland and spent over ten years in various marketing, advertising, sales and consulting roles. She holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa, a PhD from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario and is a graduate of the ICD Directors Education Program. Dr. Mazutis currently sits on the Board of Prime Ministers’ Row and Riga Business School.


Amy MacLeod is the Corporate Diversity Officer and Vice President, Strategic Communications at Mitel and from 2011 to 2018 was the Vice President, Strategic Communications. Amy is a seasoned business leader with 25 years’ experience as a senior communications executive and spokesperson. A specialist in shaping complex business, financial, and technical developments into global strategic communications and corporate programs, Amy has played a lead communications role in more than a dozen mergers and acquisitions with a combined value of more than $15 billion. Amy also chairs the Kanata North Business Association. She is a University of Waterloo political science graduate who began her career in Ottawa as a political staffer on Parliament Hill.

Code Cubitt is a Founder and Managing Director of Mistral Venture Partners - an early stage venture capital firm with offices in Ottawa and California. Code has more than 25 years of experience as a company founder, operating executive and investor. As a venture capital and private investor, Code has invested in more than 50 technology companies across North America. Prior to Mistral, Code was the Chief Operating Officer of Zephyr Technology (acquired by Covidien NYSE: COV), an Investment Director at Motorola Ventures in Sunnyvale, California and a Principal at Gabriel Venture Partners, a Silicon Valley based Venture Capital firm. Code began his career as a design engineer at IBM in Toronto Canada, before moving to the United States in 1997.
