Organizational Transformation: The Role of the Board

It was such a great experience getting together in person in September that we will do it again on October 19! This event will focus on a topic that most boards have encountered regardless of sector. It is time for another lively dialogue with your director peers on this critical issue.

The not-for-profit (NFP) landscape has become more competitive in recent years, challenging these critical organizations to find new ways to provide valuable services while distinguishing their relevance to much-needed donors. Gone are the days of 20 to 30-year terms for NFP leaders, with tenures of 18 months to five years becoming the norm. Boards have responded by acknowledging the need for transformation and selecting new leadership to guide the organization’s future needs in the rapidly evolving environment.

Before that can happen, the board needs to understand what type of transformation is required, create a strategy, and then decide what leadership skills are necessary to accomplish the transformation within a specific time period.

With the new leadership in place, the real work of transformation begins, and the board is at the helm.

Join us for a panel discussion with Jim Krovats and Candace Olson, the past and incoming Board Chairs of The Link: Youth and Family Supports  (formerly Macdonald Youth Services) and their  CEO, Kerri Irvin-Ross, to share the journey they have undertaken over the past four years to lead their organizational transformation.
