Board Stewardship of Good Governance: How the Charlottetown Airport Authority Embraces a Culture of Continuous Improvement 

Boards are expected to be the stewards of their own governance policies and practices, and the most effective boards are known to embrace a culture of continuous improvement and regular self-evaluation. Governance committees and boards often look to outside expertise to provide advice on corporate governance standards and offer an objective assessment of board performance. 

The ICD has the pleasure of hosting the Charlottetown Airport Authority (CAA) Chief Executive Officer, Doug Newson and Vice Chair Patrick MacFadyen, joined by governance expert, Carol Gabanna, to talk about how the organization engaged in a successful board development process in the late 2010s. The trio has volunteered to share key insights from the CAA’s board development initiatives, including how the CAA actively pursues and demonstrates continuous improvement in board governance. Our speakers will share key themes about how the board development process was initiated, what was learned and how the CAA board has implemented key changes and focused on good governance since the engagement.
