Be at the Table, Not on the Menu : Under Pressure - a Cybersecurity Tabletop Exercise

Cyber-attacks—they’re happening in our community. They’re happening to businesses, large and small. They’re happening to governments and not-for-profit organizations, large and small. Cyber incidents are significant. Bad actors have selected your board as the target.

As a governance professional, you have likely participated in webinars and researched articles on cybersecurity. However, is that really enough to prepare you to defend your organization? Soldiers and airline pilots prepare for crises through simulations. Why should boards (and individual directors) do anything less?

The gold standard for board level cyber preparedness involves a “tabletop exercise” wherein board members participate in a group simulation to discuss their roles in and responses to a particular emergency. Experienced and knowledgeable facilitators guide participants through discussion of one or more scenarios. The collaborative learnings arising from these tabletop exercises can be invaluable to directors and their organizations.

Attendance is limited to the first 100 registrants to support the event’s tabletop format, which includes a working lunch. Prior to May 15, attendees will be provided with the first scenario to set the stage for the theatre of conflict and real time discussions.
