Data Centres and our Alberta Advantage
Artificial intelligence (AI) offers society an incredible once-in-a-generation range of exponential advancement opportunities, while coming with immense energy demands. Maintenance of a reliable, affordable energy grid as we continue to balance the advancement of decarbonization efforts with support of AI’s rapidly growing energy consumption is a challenge that has become a critical conversation requiring fast-paced, complex action.
In this session, we will explore:
• Why Alberta’s geography, climate, and power system, among other considerations, is ideally suited for the data centre operations required to support AI’s computational capability and data storage demands.
• Short- and long-term challenges of managing the energy transition along with the economic opportunities of growing energy demand
• How directors (and Albertans) can participate in these important conversations while fulfilling their organizational purpose and commitment to stakeholders.
Note: Doors open at 7:00 a.m. for breakfast buffet; and panel discussion from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
