Partnering with First Nations for Economic Growth: A Conversation with Southern Chiefs Organization

Economic reconciliation is necessary for growth and prosperity in Manitoba and it is a journey filled with potential. Collaboration and partnership with First Nations Governments and Organizations are vital to generating these opportunities. The Southern Chiefs Organization is playing a leading role in advancing the contributions of Indigenous people to the Manitoba economy as they have successfully responded to new and changing economic conditions and emerging opportunities, while leveraging partnerships to achieve economic development. This is demonstrated by many initiatives including the Wehwehneh Bahgahkinahgohn project at the former Hudson’s Bay Building, the Portage Place Partnership with True North Real Estate Development and the release of the report “Indigenous Contributions to the Manitoba Economy” in partnership with Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) and Brandon University.

Join us for an informative and timely session moderated by ICD Executive Member Diane Roussin in dialogue with Southern Chiefs Organization Grand Chief Jerry Daniels and CEO Joy Cramer to learn more about these exciting initiatives and more occurring in Manitoba.
